With annual profit as high as $150 billion, it represents the world’s third largest and most profitable crime industry after illicit drug and arms trafficking.Īccording to the International Labour Organization and the United Nations (“UN”) Migration Agency, in 2016 alone, over 40 million people were victims of “modern slavery.” To break it down, more than 25 million have been victims of forced labor, including forced labor exploitation, forced sexual exploitation of adults, commercial sexual exploitation of children, and state-imposed forced labor and over 15 million people were victims of forced marriage.
